About Dr. Greenwood
Dr. Lori Greenwood grew up in northern Virginia where, as a teenager, she worked as a manager, technician, and receptionist at Minnieville Animal Hospital. She received a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina, where she graduated with foreign language honors in Spanish.
After receiving her degree, she attended St. Georges University School of Veterinary Medicine on the Caribbean Island of Grenada and then transferred after two years to Iowa State University. In May of 2009, Dr. Greenwood obtained her veterinary degree from Iowa State University.
Dr. Greenwood has a special interest in dermatology and soft tissue surgery. She also actively serves on the board of directors for the Prince William County Humane Society.
She lives in Dumfries with her two daughters enjoys boating, fishing, traveling, and spending time with her kids.
On June 4th, 2018, Dr. Greenwood became the new owner of Minnieville Animal Hospital.
Dr. Richards, MLAS, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
About Dr. Richard
Dr. Richards is an associate veterinarian with a passion for providing compassionate, high-quality care to both companion and exotic animals. A 2023 graduate of St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, Dr. Richards honed her clinical skills through rigorous training at the University of Pennsylvania and further specialized in exotic animal care during an exotic animal internship at Stahl Exotic Animal Veterinary Services in 2024.
Before pursuing a veterinary degree, Dr. Richards completed a Master’s Degree in laboratory animal science from Drexel University, and spent 20 years as a veterinary technician, gaining extensive hands-on experience in animal care. This background gives Dr. Richards a unique perspective and depth of understanding when it comes to both medical treatment and client education.
Dr. Richards has a particular interest in dentistry as well as exotic pets, including birds, guinea pigs, ferrets, and reptiles, and is dedicated to providing specialized care for these unique species. She is committed to advancing her knowledge and skills to better serve Minnieville Animal Hospital’s patients and their families. Dr. Richards is excited to continue building strong relationships with both pet owners and their animal companions, providing expert care with a gentle, personalized approach.
Outside of work, Dr. Richards enjoys snowboarding, bike riding, ice hockey (Let’s Go Flyers), anything to do with water (beach, lake, etc.) going to the gym and spending time with her boyfriend and their cat, Kane. Through the years, she has also been fortunate to have had many cats, a dog, 3 hermit crabs, 1 rabbit, 4 ferrets, 2 hamsters , 4 guinea pigs, 2 birds, and 2 bearded dragons of her very own. She even kept a Dubia Roach colony!
